Wicked

The Lady Guinevere

This is my new costume...drool drool...it will be delivered in 6-8 weeks! It's called The Lady Guinevere and it's being custom made for me. I'm getting the skirt, vest and matching embroidered veil. The bra and belt are not included...I'd make those myself anyway. I'm selling off a bunch of my old dance stuff just to afford it, but I know its going to be worth it. Its made of indigo chiffon so it should flow beautifully and not be too heavy.

Whole Brain Fart

So here I am at work coloring in my Anatomy of the Human Brain coloring book...it seems like they should really test you in grade school as to how you best learn...might save years of heartache and brain spasms. I'm whole brain dominant and I learn best through visual and kinetic tools. So here I am coloring my neuroanatomy book hoping to absorb all this stuff before classes start in August. Though I'd bet dollars to donuts (where the hell did that phrase come from anyway?)that it won't be enough and I'll still feel behind...oh well...can't all be brilliant prodigies. I remember on several occasions being so proud thinking that I was way ahead on my work and even pointed out to people all the extra effort I had put into a project only to find that its what I was expected to have been doing all along and that I was actually behind several others in the curve. Talk about a let down.

Whole brain dominant people are good at attacking a problems from all sides and utilizing both creative and analytical thought processes. Problem though is there are times when the brain can freeze up because the two halves are fighting for dominance. So thats my new excuse for being me...my grey matter is a BDSM switch!

Cognitive Ethology

Cognitive Ethology: The study of how animals in their natural habitats think.
I think I'm in love. :)

Ever read a book that completely floors you and you get another piece of the puzzle that you call your life?

The Emotional Lives of Animals by Marc Bekoff is one of those books. Suddenly all of the little disjointed parts of what I want to be when I grow up came together. I want to study the play behavior of all the different species of feline and understand the social dynamics of these social and solitary predators. I want to study the evolutionary patterns of behavior as each species developed on different continents. And I want to develop theories about the potential evolution and eventual domestication of the big cats as the continue to be breed in captivity.

Now when do those classes start?

I did get a thousand dollar scholarship from Purdue...its part of their adult student program...get old, write surly essays about how life has kicked you in teeth a few times and people give you money...go figure :)

Sillyness

Under a Rock

Its been a while...so here I am up from under a rock in my head.

Funny that it took a dentists drill to break through. Had three more teeth worked on...whoo hooo...I must be a glutton for punishment. I finished Marc Bekoff's book Minding Animals. Wow... a scientist that actually considers the emotional awareness of animals...whodu thunk it. I enjoyed his writing so much I'm considering going to grad school where he is a Professor of Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder. And ya'll know how much I really despise snow...also got those Stand by Stephen King images going through my head too. "Baby can you dig yo man"

Went to Dag and Ann Marie's Coronation and was bored out of my frakin' mind. Considering just giving up on the SCA all together...major burnout. Of course being on the rag didn't help...don't you just love that phrase? So the universe is a bitch...got phone call from Joe letting me know we have the use of a hotel room at the Best Western with a King size bed and a jacuzi on Saturday...the heavy flow day. So we went to dinner and visited with the MEC crew, got back to the hotel and crashed on a rather uncomfortable bed. Reminded me of a nookie hotel...do I lose purity points for that? At least I got a couple of boxes of TastyKakes! (numphar does the dance of joy)

Lets see, what did I do before that... oh I ditched my responsibilities (there weren't that many to begin with) for the Rivenstar event to go take a class in Chicago with Dalia Carella and Carmine. They are both great teachers! We had a really small class...about 5 for both classes...so we got lots of individual attention. I drove back to Lafayette in time for the feast...gotta have my Russian Cream fix...and got to see Andrew propose to Jessie. The schtick was great...leave it to Rivenstar to make you laugh. Once feast was over, the politics burnout came back with avengence and I had to get outta dodge. Went home and crashed...missed the post rev, Mary Kat's birthday party...I hate it when everyone picks the same weekend to hold everything.
