Urban Gardening

This is my street...the shrubs and lilies were already there when I moved in. They are growing nicely and seem to be able to compete with the dandilions and other weeds.

My makeshift greenhouse on my patio...I'm experimenting with growing herbs and vegetables. I now have about 12 kinds of herbs, 6 types of green leafy veges, strawberries, mini pumkins, and gourds.

My flower garden and strawberry patch. The path is made of pea gravel. I have snap dragons, verbana, echinacea, geraniums, violas, some other funky hybrids, and chives. I started this about two weeks ago...lets see if it survives any last minute frosts.

Look at my new Tattoo!

We did a Maori presentation for my ANTH 303 class and we wore chin tattoos. This is what I pay $6000 a year in tuition for ...he he he!

It Ain't Easy Bein' Green

I broke down and got the VITAMIX blender...it is so cool! It blends everything...I can make almond butter with this thing! I mostly got it for blending green smoothies...green leafy veges combined with yummy fruit. Everyone thinks it looks disgusting, but I really like them. I feel better and I'm losing weight, so they can all kiss my butt about the weird food I've been trying!

I also got and Aerogarden...its a little no brainer hydroponic system. I'm starting a garden outside this spring, but with this sytem, I can grown salad greens to feed my Vitamix beast all year long. I'll have to take pictures of my sprouts...they are too cute!

Yeah...people seem to be pretty hostile about the whole vegan thing...I don't get why people are so defensive about eating meat. I still eat some meat...I'm not eating 100% vegan (I still hate beans!!). People seem to get so testy when you start doing something out of the norm. Hey if I want to change something about myself, I damn well am gonna do it. I don't like being put in a box and just left there. Everything I am doing is a positive thing so I don't get all the bitchyness.

Speaking of Bitchyness...I highly recommend reading Skinny Bitch and the Skinny Bitch Cookbook. They are hysterical and eye opening! The authors are not afraid of using a number of four letter words and telling it like it is!!!

I decided to give up eating major fast food and big manufacture processed meat and dairy. I'm trying the whole organic thing as well. Let me tell you...the food tastes so much better now. I guess its like smoking...when you give up smoking, they say you start to be able to taste the full flavors of food again...thats the way it seems to be with giving up over processed food loaded with harsh chemicals and antibiotics. I was so sick of the same old crap food all the time. Now I get food that seems to explode with flavor...its so much more enjoyable.

Home Stretch

The semester is almost over...thank the gods!!!

I have done 8 writing assignments, 5 power point presentations, one group presentation, but no final exams. My brain is fried and I'm tired of playing mind reader for all of my quirky skitzophrenic teachers. I have two presentations left and one last exam.

I got into the American Sign Language program and I'm taking it as my foreign language requirement. Its practically impossible to get into...I'm doing the slam bam holy cow where's the lube version of the classes and taking 101, 102, and 201 back to back in the summer as one month modules. Its like taking three maymesters in a row. I take 202 in the fall. I'm going to have carpel tunnel syndrome by December, but it will be nice to have it all done and I can take more classes if I want to. I think it would be cool to be able to teach this to other people.

The Sleeper Awakes

Yep...been busy doing all kinds of stuff. This semester has been writing heavy, so the last thing I want to do is more writing. I'm still alive and kicking. My back is much better.

As long as the world does not fall apart, I should get As in all of my classes except Statistics...I'm at 79% so there is a good chance of getting a B!!!

I've been doing alot of gardening...been exploring the world of being vegan/vegetarian...not so sure I'll ever be 100% vegan, but I am definately changing the way and what I eat.

Gotta get to class!
