Izmaragd is Back!
I danced at the Pagan Pride Day Fundraisor Dessert Nights this past Saturday and it was a blast! Yes it's spelled correctly...it was a night of pychic readings, belly dancing, and all you can eat desserts.
I have not danced like that in ages. I don't know what it looked like from the audience, but I felt like I was on fire. Everything I did was improvisational and it felt fabulous. I was in no pain back, foot or otherwise. Thank you Heather for the tiger tyedyed silk veil...it worked out to be the perfect tribal Goth veil.
I danced to a mix of track 3 -an industrial feel with a single woodwind- and Flava Laguna's techno Aria from the Fifth Element Soundtrack. After that I danced to Bella Fleck's Sinister Minister -a slinky Jazz piece- followed by Bette Middler's I Put a Spell on You from Hocus Pocus. I can't wait to see it on DVD...hope they finish it soon!
Ah yes and I danced the night away once again as Izmaragd!
Izmaragd (Eez ma rod)is actually a Russian name that means Emerald. I believe the correct Russian pronunciation is Eez zoo ma r(trilled r)ed , but I like the more Turkish sounding pronunciation Eeezmarod with a slight trilled r.
Izmaragd is my dancing persona in the SCA and outside of it. I am shy by nature. I enjoy watching and studying people. Izmaragd gets me out of my shell and into the mix of things and people and life. I've been really so down with the back and foot injuries that I haven't been indulging my little Turkish Goddess. Bad me. But she's out again with avengence..he he he.
I also got a rune reading done by a small elf looking old man (kinda looked like Gus Gus!) who had the royal blue swami hat with an obnoxious sparkly broach in the middle of his third eye. It was so silly I just had to sit down...hey it was free! He actually gave me some really good info and pegged some of my major issues. All I can say here is that 2006 is going to be my year! ...about fracking time :)
