My Achy Breaky Butt

After three grueling hot muggy rainy days of moving, I am finally done. I'm in my new space and loving it. It's still a pit of despair, but I can at least find the chocolate.

And yes I did manage to tear my self away from the moving OCD to replace it with the Harry Potter OCD. Got through chapter 8. I get to do more cleaning and unpacking after work today and then when I can't move anymore, I'll pick up the book again. How you ask can I not just read the book straight through? Virgo! Hello! My living space is in chaos...I think that's the only thing that trumps a new Harry Potter book.

Have a Swingin' Belated 4th of July!

oops...forgot to post this last week...but its too cute not to post!

I have to get off my butt and upload the pictures from my laptop from the last few events to yahoo, so I can post stuff at work...I'll get there eventually....

Wow, what a weekend!

After being in turmoil all week about whether or not to go to the Red tour performance I finally Saturday morning got the nerve to get in my car and go. I was so worried about a costume since my new costume has not come in the mail that I really considered cancelling my performance. I finally went for comfy and wore a simple tan embroidered tunic with a simple antique silver gold hip scarf and brown veil. I also needed a gimmick to get more attention…always gotta be unique…so I thought of the candle dancing. On Friday after work, I found at Von's Beads two beautiful lotus flower candle holders...one pearl white and one copper red…my precious.

So I get to Muncie Indiana, a place where old cars die apparently and there are more people than teeth, and I finally get to the place that Carenza’ Studio is located. I panicked for a moment as the place looked like an abandoned warehouse. I drove around back and saw the big sign like a shining beacon in the great dim doldrums of existence…I knew then that the evening would be interesting in the Chinese sense. I got there in time for the second workshop with two women I frankly have never heard of before but were very cool…I’ll have to actually look them up. I unfortunately missed Wyldfyre’s poi spinning class. She had no one else show up, so it would have been a private class…doh! Oh well, I guess I wasn’t supposed to get that knowledge just then.

After getting lost in downtown Muncie, I finally found a Micky D’s and scarfed down some nuggets and the saltiest fries I think I have ever eaten…they were so bitter I think the were using rock salt. I rushed back from dinner to get ready…silly me I thought that when people say be back here at 7:30 pm dressed and ready I took them at their word. I wound up standing around till 8:30 pm fully dressed and pacing till the show started 15 minutes later.

The performers were excellent and Il Troubadore was great. I was in the second act with Snakes Rising. They had decided to do a full elemental ritual with an alter set up for each direction. This would have been great except the altars were in the middle of the fraking dance space. The dance floor went from 30’ x 30’ down to about a 10’ x 10’ circle of space with lit candles on each table that was about knee high. So there went part of my spinning plan. I danced to Snakes Rising's Ayazein which I had only ever heard once before...talk about improving at the last minute. The recording on UTube was a lot slower. With a sudden space reduction, one day to practice with my lotus flowers, and a quicker tempo than expected, I was able to pull off something not too horrible. Of course because I was dancing faster one of my candles blew out (smacks head) …could have been worse. I did get props for doing the cool Turkish floorwork…he he he!

Both the workshops and the show were very small. I thought there would have been a much better turnout. Gabriella and Darkside Tribal were there and there were a few others I recognized, so I wasn’t the total sociaphobe. I left my camera in the car like a dumbass. I hope I can get some shots from people who post them on the web. There were some really cool performers…especially the fire spinners. Get this…there was this young kid…barely legal… wearing leather chaps with a cool metal hip belt, a leather biker jacket with cool chains, and one of those leather caps. On his hips were belt loops that held two chains with fire poi on the ends. He struts on stage swinging his hips and the flaming poi swing in and around his legs smacking him in the ass and thighs as he dances…I winced through this guy’s entire performance, but it was like a train wreck…I couldn’t look away. He did extremely well and still had all his bits unburned afterwards…talk about a fire down below!

There’s more but I’ll save that for later. I left the studio at about 11:30pm and despite my night blindness and Muncie’s shitty ass signs, I finally make it back the safety of highway 465. I can get anywhere as long as I can get on the Indianapolis race track know as 465. I got home around 2 am and finally crashed. What a day!

Great news!

I finally got a hold of my landlord and I got confirmation that I can stay in my apartment till July 30th!

For those of you that did not know, I was looking at moving my nonessential stuff to a storage shed ($40) on July 14th, then moving to Bob and Karen's new apartment with my two cats and 30 plants on the 20th turning in the keys on Friday, then moving in to my new apartment on the 27th. Joe is planning to be here on both the weekend of the 21st and the 28th, so he would have to either squeeze in with Bob Karen and I and 6 cats or crash with someone else…so there goes any happy alone time. My wonderful kitties are very territorial, so I would have to worry about them destroying each other…plus neither of them are current with their shots so there's another $100 bucks in vet bills. And of course while this is going on, worrying about all the letters from financial aid that are getting lost in the mail over that week…did I ever mention that one of my anxiety triggers is not having a stable living situation…thank you California. Utility changes, address changes, to rent or not to rent Uhaul (another $100 bucks…its $19.99 plus all the insurance mileage and gas…don't tell ya that in the commercials!), worrying about all my stuff being in a hot storage shed for two weeks, what do I do with all my food in my fridge, do I have enough money to buy everyone food and drinks for two major moves, gotta carry three boxes with me with candles and meltable type stuff, the cats only drink out of the toilet and they are not responding well to the new water fountain bowl I bought ($40) so what do I do for the week in limbo, I have a major dance performance on the 7th and the 13th of July and my new costume has not come in the mail yet and the rest of my costumes are too far out of repair…that's just the surface...

So for $108.50, I get to avoid this whole psychotic Kat gets a nervous breakdown circus. How many people can put a price on sanity?
